Do you ever feel like you are flipping the switch but someone forgot to pay the power company?  Like all you need is that little surge of energy to start flowing and then all the marketing will work, the clients will come, your business will light up and take flight?  Or maybe you are still searching for the switch!  Many business owners feel like this.  It’s that feeling of beating your head against a wall, doing everything you can think of to make it all work, and yet…nothing happens.  You do more and more, you spend more and more time, and still…nothing.  And you can’t see why not.  The lights are off.  So how do you get that power flowing?

Part of getting back into that flow is to see what you are doing from a different perspective.  You may be doing all you know how to do, but if you can’t see how it looks from the other side, from your client-to-be perspective, it will be really difficult to understand exactly what isn’t working.  And you really won’t know how to change things unless you know where to start.  Doing more of whatever you are already doing is not the answer.

Instead, take a step back from what you are doing.  Ask a prospective client to talk with you and ask them if they can tell you what it is that you offered to them – and then ask why it did not have value for them.  It isn’t always easy to get this kind of feedback, but if you find someone who is willing to give it, be very grateful!  This is how you can find out if what you are offering is results-based, and whether the results you offer are really worthwhile to a prospective client.  They probably are not.  If you were making an irresistible offer, they would all be lining up at your door!  So think about how you would change your message if you understood that what people HEAR is entirely different from what you THOUGHT you were offering.
